The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), through the Research Center for Biosystematics and Evolution, Life Sciences and Environment Research Organization (ORHL), has established a strategic collaboration with the Artha Graha Peduli Foundation (AGP) in the field of Biodiversity Studies and Wildlife Potential in Lowland and Coastal Forests of Sumatra – Tambling Wildlife Nature Conservation (TWNC).

The signing of the cooperation agreement took place on October 8, 2025, marking an important step in strengthening Indonesia’s biodiversity research and advancing evidence-based environmental conservation. The three-year collaboration will focus on scientific exploration in the TWNC area, which is known for its high biodiversity.

As a follow-up to this cooperation, BRIN will deploy a team of researchers and students participating in the DBR Terrestrial Biodiversity Expedition (E-BiTe) ORHL-BRIN to Tambling Wildlife Nature Conservation on October 10, 2025. The team consists of 55 participants, including 32 researchers and 23 students, who will conduct field research for approximately 14 days covering various topics related to flora, fauna, and ecosystems.

The Head of the Life Sciences and Environment Research Organization (ORHL BRIN), Andes Hamuraby Rozak, stated,

“This collaboration is a tangible manifestation of BRIN’s commitment to promoting sustainable scientific exploration and nurturing a new generation of Indonesian biodiversity experts who will continue the legacy of today’s scientists.”

The collaboration is expected to produce 30 to 40 new scientific findings each year, contributing to the enrichment of Indonesia’s national scientific collections. Over the three-year partnership, the goal is to deposit around 5,000 scientific specimens into BRIN’s national collection.

The Artha Graha Peduli Foundation warmly welcomed this collaboration as part of AGP and TWNC’s ongoing commitment to supporting scientific research and environmental conservation that delivers real benefits for Indonesia’s natural heritage.

“This joint research brings a new spirit to young Indonesian scientists to continue contributing to science and environmental sustainability. We hope that the outcomes of this collaboration will not only enrich national scientific data but also bring broader benefits for a better and more sustainable Indonesia,”
said Ronny Leonard, Chairman of Artha Graha Peduli.
